How to calculate standard weight

Weight is an important indicator reflecting a person's normal and healthy condition. Both excessive obesity and excessive thinness are not conducive to physical health and will not bring much beauty. It is believed that everyone has a certain understanding of different weight measurement methods. According to different physical constitution and body mass index, we can see if our weight is in line with the ideal goal, and then make some improvements to our weight to achieve a healthy state. The World Health Organization recommends the following calculation method:

Calculating standard weight is relatively simple, mainly through comparing height with weight. If it is higher than the standard weight, it is generally caused by obesity or overweight. If it is lower than the standard weight, it is generally too thin. Either too thin, too fat, or too thin can cause certain physical harm, so we must correctly understand the concept of standard weight.

Men: (Height cm - 80) × 70% = Standard Weight; Women: (Height cm - 70) × 60% = Standard Weight

A standard weight with a plus or minus 10% deviation is considered normal weight

A standard weight with a plus or minus 10% to 20% deviation is considered overweight or underweight

A standard weight with a plus or minus 20% deviation is considered obesity or underweight

Formula for calculating overweight

Overweight %= [(Actual Weight - Ideal Weight) / Ideal Weight] × 100%

According to statistics, about 42% of people feel they are overweight and need to lose weight. Before engaging in a real weight loss plan, it is best to have a concept of ideal weight, as demanding too much may often have negative effects on the psychological level.

The standard weight for the metric system is as follows: for men, the standard weight is obtained by subtracting 80 from the height and multiplying by 70%; for women, the standard weight is obtained by subtracting 70 from the height and multiplying by 60%. A standard weight with a plus or minus 10% deviation is considered normal. If the deviation is more than 20% or between 10% and 20%, it will have a certain impact. There are certain methods for measuring standard weight.
